Missions

The Great Commission

16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Matthew 28:16-20 (New International Version)

Matthew gives an account of Jesus’ death and resurrection, but it doesn’t stop there. Jesus commanded us to “go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Mat 28:19). Jesus commanded us to preach to others, near and far, in our community and in other places around the world, of The Good News — that Jesus died and rose again so that we may have everlasting life!

- Where/When does EM send short-term missionaries?

In the past, EM has traveled on missions to:
Argentina
Brazil
Mexico
Indonesia, Peru and China

Other locations that the greater IBC has gone to include:
Costa Rica
Guatemala
China
North Korea
Arizona

Philadelphia

By God’s grace, we hope to expand this list in the future and send more short-term mission teams and long-term missionaries out to bring the Good News to those who have not heard.

- What do we do there?

Our short-term missions usually last anywhere from 2-3 days (Tecate, Mexico) to 3 weeks (Indonesia). During this time, our mission team engages in many different ministries. Some examples include:
Street evangelism
Body worship
English Camp
Prayer walks
Supporting ministries
Vision ministries
Children’s body worship
Evening services
Building new facilities
and much more.

One of the great things about going on missions is not only being a part of the expansion of God’s Kingdom and seeing others come to Christ, but it also includes our personal growth as individuals and as members of EM. We usually spend the morning team in individual prayer and meditation, then we come together as a team to share our thoughts and QT for that day. This time has proven to be the time where our team can reflect upon His word, encourage one another, and strengthen our bond and unity as a Mission Team. The possibilities are endless on the mission field, and it is often the perfect time for God to speak to our EM members on a real, personal, direct level when it comes to expanding our vision, directing our future, and experiencing God.
